Focus on... Hanover

When considering different areas of Brighton to live in Hanover has always been a popular choice, and it’s easy to see why. It’s narrow, winding streets of colourful Victorian terraced houses are in contrast to some of the more polished and ornate Georgian architecture present in other areas of the city, and give the whole area a vibrant and easy-going feel.
One aspect of life which has become synonymous with Hanover over the years is the strong sense of community. There are convenience shops, takeaways, excellent community pubs, a bakery and numerous other independent stores which not only supply the locals with their necessities, but also act as hubs for them to keep ‘in the loop’ of ongoing events and happenings. Hanover is home to a wide variety of inhabitants; young families, downsizers, commuters, private renters, students and many others besides. This wide variety of people seems to add to the eclectic feel of the area.
Another reason that the areas popularity has remained consistent is its location. It is close to so many of the things that make Brighton one of the country’s most desirable places to live; the beachfront, the North Laine, the Royal Pavilion, the list goes on. In addition, many improvements have recently been undertaken on the immediate surrounding area including a complete re-development and re-modelling of The Level, which now includes a skate park, play area and popular cycling-themed coffee shop. The nearby Open Market has also been completely revitalised and offers a great selection of produce from local independent traders.
