BAHBAs Come Alive

Thursday, September 24, 2015 By Phil Graves

The annual Brighton & Hove Business Awards (the BAHBAs) ceremony took place on Friday 4th September 2015 at the rather different and unusual non-corporate setting of St Andrews Church in Hove. The theme was an afternoon high tea.

Surely, the timing and the venue must be wrong for what is normally a black tie event – but organisers Midnight Communications do things ‘different’ and nothing is ‘normal’ – and what a resounding success it was!

Over 400 participants, judges, sponsors and the best of Brighton & Hove city business took their place in the Church which was dressed for the occasion. A champagne reception, a magnificent high tea, a gay male voice choir, a few glasses of alcohol and the event was on its way.

Such occasions do not run themselves and as I mentioned, the effervescent team at Midnight had bravely put together a show, full of bright lights, a stage and a host more frequently seen at a comedy club rather than a formal awards event. But it worked wonderfully well. Weeks of preparation and judges agonising over shortlisting submissions for the final day.

It was the second time that Graves Jenkins had co-sponsored the event and we were very pleased to be part of the success. It certainly celebrated all that is good about business in the city and the vibrancy that the location has to offer.

Caraline Brown, MD at Midnight commented, “We were very pleased the event went so well and it seems to get better each year. Our sponsors, such as Graves Jenkins, are invaluable to us and are a great endorsement to the event.”

Phil Graves added, “It was great fun being part of the decision making process and I thought the production this year was particularly professional. Well done to all of the nominees and subsequent winners.”
