Coppa Club to land in Brighton

Thursday, June 15, 2017 By Phil Graves

Coppa – an Italian wine or a type of meat?

Well neither actually, it is one of the UK’s fastest expanding restaurants and could be Brighton’s newest restaurant if everything goes to plan.

Terms were agreed during the early part of 2017 for Coppa Club to take the destination restaurant space in Brighton Square which will undoubtedly revitalise a somewhat dated precinct. The representatives of the Company gave a great pitch and it seemed to offer another twist to the dining out scene in the city, but Graves Jenkins decided to take a look for themselves.

We arrived at Coppa Club at Sonning-on-Thames in the leafy Berkshire countryside and for a Monday lunch the venue was packed. They describe themselves as ‘unfussy eateries where you can drink, eat, meet and unwind’ and everyone in the place seemed to be doing one of not all.

It appeals to families, suited business types, couples, special occasion visitors and the retired folk and the menu has everything you need for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon snack and evening meals, all coupled with a lively and well stocked bar. The décor varies from one site to another, but has private booths, leather banquet seating, freestanding tables and chairs, bar stools and casual seating. You will feel comfortable just taking a coffee or a lavish three course meal.

Does it suit Brighton? – absolutely. The location will be busy throughout the day for business coffees, shoppers, tourists and the locals. Not only will the 3,600 sq ft restaurant be fitted to extremely high standards, but there will also be the opportunity to dine ‘al fresco’ with over 50 covers within the Square itself. Being in the heart of The Lanes, it should not suffer from the inclement weather and the funky futuristic designs of the external pods will not please all, but will be well received and ‘very’ Brighton.

So it’s a big endorsement from us and there is no need to join the Club as there isn’t one. A change in name maybe required, but go and try it once it’s opened. The fit out should start late Summer and with any luck, open for all to enjoy come Christmas 2017.

GJ are acting and advising Centurion Developments on the scheme and are leasing to the Coppa Club.
