Green Reuse Project

Sussex Central YMCA ( formerly Hove YMCA ) has acquired a five year lease on a 3400 sqft warehouse and 2000 sq ft office / training centre in Mile Oak, Portslade.
Sussex Central YMCA will be using the site to operate their green reuse project and training programmes for young people. The scheme will see the refurbishment and repair on over 8000 electrical items per year, including fridges, TV’s, hi-fi and general electrical goods - these are then sold in YMCA shops to help raise money for the charities work with children, young people and families.
The former offices on site are being converted to a training centre. This is part of the YMCA’s involvement with the Future Jobs Scheme, which will give 110 local young people six months paid employment, NVQ training and help in CV writing and interview techniques.
Head of Corporate & Commercial Services for the YMCA, John Shepherd said, " This is an exciting social and green enterprise project, something which was understood and supported by both Graves Jenkins and the landlords, Penfold Verrall"
